Advocacy / Issues
As Canada’s leading advocacy body representing the industry, ACPM constantly monitors and identifies seminal issues that could affect the well-being of the Canada’s retirement income system. With over three decades of experience, and with the volunteer assistance of a large and committed group of leading experts in the field, we regularly assess and comment on proposed legislation related to pension matters at both the provincial and federal levels. When necessary ACPM, through its Advocacy and Government Relations Committee (AGRC), forms sub-committees or task force groups to prepare and present submissions directly to government or to working commissions and panels that have been struck specifically by government to gather input on their behalf prior to making changes in legislation. In addition, ACPM may from time to time craft position papers on specific subjects of interest, which are then released to the industry, government and the general public as a whole. Throughout all of our advocacy endeavours ACPM constantly works at developing strong and mutually productive relationships with governments and their respective regulators at both the provincial and federal levels. It is though these strong relationships that can we can affectively bring about positive change on behalf our members and the industry as a whole.
