How do you communicate with plan members about their pension plan/retirement savings plan?

Welcome

Dear Retirement Income Industry Colleague:

You are invited to join us in Whistler, British Columbia for the 2010 Association of Canadian Pension Management National Conference, to be held at Fairmont Chateau Whistler September 14 – 17, 2010.

Given this time of unprecedented interest in our industry, consultations and reform proposals, this year’s conference will address coverage, investment, economic, plan design and funding issues through the framework of Reaching Higher, Getting Stronger.

At the conference’s opening Plenary, (Not) Pension Reform, the speakers will consider how to expand coverage in Canada while drawing on the experiences of other countries. The session will focus on addressing the issues that challenge today's policy makers including mandatory vs voluntary, stakeholder roles, contribution levels and replacement income levels. Plenary II will examine what can be done to strengthen the pension promise and the implication for the future of private sector plans.  Plenary III considers how investment policy is being impacted by the role that global currencies play in the world economy and financial markets. And finally, Plenary IV explores the topic of financial literacy and poses the question- Will Canadians be ready for Retirement?

Delegates can choose to participate in three of the six interesting and interactive workshops:
  • Deal or New Deal
  • Funding DB Plans in Today’s World
  • Are MEPPs in your Future?
  • Managing Relationships
  • U.S. DC Plan Litigation – Coming to Canada?
  • Exploring Performance Based Fees
The ACPM Open Forum will again use an on-line survey in advance of the conference, to gather your feedback on key retirement income policy issues.  The results of this survey will set the stage for discussion of the issues at this year’s Open Forum

Of course, given that the conference is in Whistler, you can expect an exciting and adventurous social program. The annual ACPM Golf Tournament will open the event on Tuesday, September 14th at the magnificent Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club, while non-golfers enjoy an incredible day of hiking in the Whistler alpine including the Peak 2 Peak Gondola experience.  Companions will again be delighted to have a full program of their own this year including two days of outdoor fun and village culture!  Our off-site dinner takes us up Whistler Mountain to the Roundhouse for dinner and an exclusive concert from Spirit of the West.  Don’t miss our gala dinner, complete with a performance by Canadian comedian, Brent Butt, creator and star of CTV’s Corner Gas and his new series, Hiccups. Plan to extend your stay in Whistler and enjoy all this mountain playground has to offer – whether you choose to mountain bike, zip line or tour the Olympic Sliding Centre, the only hard part is deciding what to do first.
